New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu met Congress president Rahul Gandhi at the latter’s residence in Delhi on Saturday to discuss possible alliance in post-election scenario.
Before meeting the Congress chief, Naidu, who is spearheading an effort to cobble up an anti-BJP front, met CPI leaders Sudhakar Reddy and D Raja. Naidu also met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and LJD leader Sharad Yadav.
Naidu would fly to Lucknow later on Saturday to meet Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati.
On Friday, he met CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal.
He said that he would welcome any party, including Telangana Rashtra Samithi, to be part of an alliance against the BJP after election results are announced.
“Naidu reportedly told all the leaders that we all should come together and put our act together”, in forming the next government by keeping the BJP out, a source said.
Sources said Naidu also told Gandhi to have a strategy ready in case the NDA falls short of the majority mark and still stakes claim to form the government. Naidu’s TDP had been a part of the NDA and had quit the alliance a few months ago.
