The daughter of an Uttar Pradesh BJP legislator asked the police for security, alleging that her father could likely harm her because she married a Dalit man.
Sakshi Misra (23), who is the daughter of Rajesh Misra, the MLA from Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly district, uploaded a video on social media on Wednesday, 10 July, and informed about her wedding to Ajitesh Kumar (29).
THE OTHER SIDE
The BJP MLA, however, denied the allegations, stating that his daughter was an adult and has the right to take her decisions.
“My daughter is an adult and has a right to take a decision. She has not been threatened by any member of the family or any person associated with me.”Rajesh Misra, BJP MLA
Referring to her father and brother by their nicknames, Sakshi, in the video said:
“MLA Pappu Bhartaul ji and Vicky Bhartaul ji, please live and let us live in peace… I really am married, I am not wearing sindoor for fashion. Please ask your goons to back off, else they will all be in jail.”Sakshi Misra, BJP MLA’s daughter
THE BIG PICTURE
In another video, she has apprehended threat to her life from her father, brother and an associate, and urged the Bareilly senior superintendent of police to extend security to them.
Misra has also appealed to the MPs and MLAs of Bareilly to not help Rajesh Misra as she alleged that her father and others were out to “eliminate her.”
According to The Hindu, the couple have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Allahabad High Court, which is likely to be heard later in the day.
Deputy Inspector General R K Pandey said he had come to know of the video messages and had asked the SSP to extend security to the couple. The DIG, however, said the police do not know where to give her security as she had not disclosed her location, reported PTI.
