Jaipur: BJP MLA makes obscene remark on woman leader in public rally

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA in Rajasthan on Saturday made an obscene remark at a woman leader from the same party during protests against law and order situation in the state.

The BJP MLA from Sanganer, Ashok Lahoty was addressing a public gathering when he made the objectionable comment.

The comment was made on Suman Sharma, a woman BJP leader from Rajasthan. A video of the incident has since been circulated on the social media platforms.

In the video which has surfaced, Ashok Lahoty could be heard saying that what section should be the leader be booked under since, he said, “Suman ji was pulling my pants from behind”.

He also made a remark on Suman and former Health Minister Kali Charan Saraf in the Vasundhara Raje government, saying that the leader used to “pull your attire”.

He said, “Sarkar ko lagta hai ki maamla samvedansheel hai, sarkaar ko lagta hai ki utpeedan ka maamla hai, sarkaar ko lagta hai ki mahilaao ko nyay dilana hai toh sarkaar ki responsibility hai ki wo action le. Aur suman ji aap peeche se pant kheech rahi ho…aapka toh aanchal Kali Charan ji kheech rahe the, aap kuch lagaoge ki nahi? Main kya lagau?”

Rough translation: “[If] the government feels that the matter is sensitive, if it feels that justice has to be ensured for women, then the government representative should come over here and act on it and Suman ji, you are pulling my pants from behind. What section should I put on you other than 354? Kali Charan ji used to pull your aanchal. You will not put anything [on him]. What shall I put?”

He added: “Suman ji is my elder sister. She has ordered [him to sit down]. So, I immediately take my place.”
Lahoti is BJP MLA from Jaipur’s Sanganer area and has held the post of Jaipur Mayor in the past.
