After the Aarey car shed and bullet train, the Uddhav Thackeray government is now set to review some irrigation projects that were approved by the previous government.
The cabinet meeting that took place on Wednesday at the state guest house Sahyadri discussed these irrigation projects at length.
Top sources have told India Today TV that the projects which received Revised Administrative Approvals (RAA) bypassing Finance and Planning Department will be under the scanner. Some Finance and Planning department officials who were present in the meeting told the Cabinet that they were not aware of the approvals as their department was not consulted.
Interestingly, in the previous government, the Irrigation department was held by Devendra Fadnavis’s right-hand man Girish Mahajan.
After taking charge, Uddhav Thackeray had immediately scrapped the Mumbai Metro car shed in Aarey. Former CM and leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis had criticised the decision. Chhagan Bhujbal a senior Minister in Thackeray’s cabinet has also termed the Bullet Train project as the white elephant.
